5 Palestinians injured by Israeli troops

Five Palestinians have been injured after coming under fire from Israeli forces in the West Bank town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah.

The shooting took place on Friday shortly after thousands of mourners attended the funeral of a man killed by Israeli forces in his home.

Motazz Washaha, 24, was found dead on Thursday in his Birzeit home following a pre-dawn attack by Israeli troops.

During Washaha’s funeral, mourners shouted slogans in condemnation of crimes Israeli forces have committed against Palestinians and called for an end to the Palestinian Authority’s negotiations with Israel.

Also on Friday, Israeli gunfire injured a Palestinian man in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia.

Israeli forces often target Palestinians near a so-called buffer zone, which Tel Aviv established along the border with the Gaza Strip in 2008 for alleged security reasons, damaging a large portion of Palestinian farmland.
