KUWAIT: A citizen was killed in a car crash on Sixth Ring Road, while a Saudi national and an unknown person were killed in a car crash in Mahboula.

Weapons collection Weapons collection force carried out a campaign in search of unlicensed weapons in Um Al-Haiman.

Taxi driver mugged An Asian taxi driver told Fintas police he was mugged by three young men who took KD 330 from him, after asking him to take them to Sabahiya. The taxi driver said they pulled knives on him and took the money. Detectives are investigating.

Several fires in Kuwait Several fires broke out in various areas of Kuwait. Operations room received a call about a fire in a main transformer in Yarmouk. Industrial Shuwaikh and Farwaniya firemen responded to the fire and the blaze was put out in a short time. Another call was received about a fire in corrugated metal chalets and a car. Khaitan firemen responded to the scene and put out the fire. No injuries were reported. In a similar incident, a fire broke out in a corrugated metal room in Wafra area. Wafra firemen responded to the scene and put out the fire. No injuries were reported. Also, a fire broke out in a Firdous house and was put out by Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh firemen.

Six persons arrested for liquor, drugs possession

KUWAIT: Policemen made three separate arrests of six persons who had liquor and narcotic pills. In Mangaf, patrolling police spotted a car driven by an Asian man and found four cartons of mineral water with him, only to discover that they contained liquor. The man was sent to concerned authorities. In Fintas, three citizens and a Syrian were arrested while extremely drunk driving a car. In Jahra, a man driving a sports car near a mall was arrested with 75 narcotic pills

Bedoon stabbed A bedoon (stateless) man was stabbed during a fight in Adan. The fight was between the man and two Gulf nationals who stabbed him then escaped. Attempted murder charges were pressed against the two who are being sought by detectives

Fight A five-man fight broke out in Fahaheel before police arrived and stopped it. Three persons were injured and taken to Adan hospital under guard, while the other two were taken to the police station, where they explained that the fight happened due to previous differences. All five are citizens.

Accident A heavily intoxicated man broke his arm when the car he was driving collided with a concrete barrier on Sixth Ring Road near Saad Al-Abdallah. The man was taken to Jahra hospital.

Drug arrests Hawally back-up patrols arrested a citizen and a bedoon in possession of hashish, shabu, drug paraphernalia and a blue flash light. Both suspects are ex-convicts in cases of theft and claiming to be police and were sent to concerned authorities. In another incident, airport customs officers foiled the attempt of two Ethiopian maids and a European national to smuggle three bags of marijuana and 20 kilograms of the banned stimulant ‘qat.’ Separately, a British national arriving from Amsterdam was caught with three bags of marijuana inside his shoes. He was sent to Drugs Control General Department.

Indecent text A female citizen accused an Egyptian man of indecent acts through messages sent by him over her personal phone. Detectives were asked to arrest him for questioning. —Al-Raia

Indian racketeer arrested

KUWAIT: Ahmadi detectives put an end to the extortion activities of an Indian man who forced his compatriots to pay royalties and threatened those who refuse to pay. A security source said that another Indian man asked police to rescue him from the Indian extortionist who would threaten and take money from him and several others. Detectives waited for the suspect near a residence housing several Asian nationals and arrested him. The suspect confessed to carrying out his activities for the past three years and getting part of his victims’ salaries so he will stay away from them.

Drug arrest Capital policemen sent a citizen to the Drugs Control General Department (DCGD) when they arrested him with 75 narcotic pills and two hashish joints. He was also found wanted to serve a four-year jail sentence.

Reckless drivers Several areas in Jahra witnessed an unprecedented spread of reckless drivers, especially just before iftar time. Residents of these areas called police as roads were closed by these drivers, while police is not around. A security source said the problem is in the security spread plan being followed by the officers. The source added they are satisfied with fixed inspection points without having roaming patrols in the inner roads.

‘Suicide’ Farwaniya detectives are investigating the death of an Indian man who was found hanging from a laundry rope, but detectives think he was killed and not a suicide. Police received a call from a Pakistani man about the body in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. The prosecutor ordered the case be recorded as a homicide.

‘Accidental shooting’ Jahra hospital doctors removed several shotgun pellets from the back of an Asian, who received a shotgun wound and was brought by his sponsor. The sponsor said his son shot him by mistake, while cleaning the gun. The sponsor’s son will be questioned. — Al-Rai, Al-Anbaa

KUWAIT: A transit trip for an Egyptian couple ended at Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh police station after the man attacked a policewoman on a sensitive part of her body. A security source said the couple resides in Qatar and was flying back there, in transit, at Kuwait airport. Hours before the trip, the couple insisted on getting into Gate Four and the female officer told the couple they cannot get inside before the flight. Then, the husband started insulting the policewoman and pushed her on a sensitive part of her body, so the officer called for backup. An officer and a policeman attempted to explain the law to the husband but he refused and started beating them both to the astonishment of everyone. The couple was taken to Jleeb police station for questioning.

Man conned out of KD 37,000 deal A citizen told Farwaniya police that he was swindled out of KD 37,000 by a person he knows. The citizen told authorities that he and the suspect entered a KD 37,000 sheep deal but as soon as the suspect received the money, he switched his phone and avoided him. Detectives are working on the case.

Car break-in A police officer filed a complaint following a break in of his car and the disappearance of his pistol that was inside. Criminal evidence lifted fingerprints and the case was referred to concerned authorities.

Attempted prison break A detainee at Fahad Al-Ahmad police station damaged the window of his holding cell in an attempt to escape. The suspect is a 36-year-old bedoon ex-convict. Additional charges were filed against him. — Al-Rai

KUWAIT: An Egyptian shoplifter was recently arrested for several thefts he committed in various Capital governorate stores, said security sources. Case papers indicate that an Indian salesman in Salhiya called the police reporting that the suspect had stolen a valuable watch from his store. Combing the surrounding area, the suspect was soon arrested and it turned out that the suspect had just arrived three weeks earlier on a visit visa. Searching his residence, policemen found 12 mobile phones and three tablets. A case was filed.

Drug arrest Five citizens were recently arrested with possession of and for trading in drugs, said security sources. Case papers indicate that narcotics detectives had been tipped off concerning a drug den in Benaid Al-Gar. Raiding the place, detectives arrested the five suspects and confiscated 1.25 kilos of hashish, 30 grams of cocaine, psychotropic pills and a weapon. The suspects confessed to trading in drugs. In another incident, a citizen was recently arrested with the possession of drugs, said security sources, noting that on checking the suspect, he was also found wanted on a fouryear imprisonment verdict.

Security campaigns Ministry of Interior’s public security sector announced that it had recently launched several security campaigns to track down criminals and outlaws in various governorates. The campaigns which were held from June 21 to July 1 resulted in the arrest of 169 people wanted for cases, expired residency, absconding and not holding a Civil ID. Thirty-four people were arrested with the possession of drugs, while 18 vehicles were detained.

Father fears twin sons joined terrorist groups

KUWAIT: A citizen expressed his fears that his 18-year-old twin sons may have been brainwashed and may have left Kuwait to join terrorist groups. The father told Fahaheel police that the two left home Saturday and did not return since.

Fake maid agency busted Residency Affairs Department detectives raided a bogus domestic help office that uses a private apartment in Khaitan. Five expats, all in violation of residency regulations, were arrested and sent to concerned authorities for deportation.

Kidnapped by friend A citizen accused his friend of kidnapping him and forcing him to sign a promissory note. A security source said the citizen told Fahad Al-Ahmed police that a friend with whom he has a financial dispute kidnapped and took him to a mutual friend’s diwaniya and forced him to sign a promissory note, then threatened to take it to police. Investigations are underway.

Co-op robbery An unknown thief broke into a cooperative society’s branch and took a cash register containing KD 150, but escaped as soon as the alarm sounded. A security source said the branch’s manager told Sulaibikhat police that the main gate was broken into and a cash register with KD 150 cash was missing. Investigations are underway. In another incident, a citizen accused a roaming taxi driver of stealing KD 680 from her purse, when she asked him to wait for her and entered a medical health center and left her purse behind.

Fight Hawally police ended a fight between three expatriates at a Salmiya cafÈ. The men are being questioned over the reason of their fight. —Al-Rai and Al-Anbaa

Pakistani man sent to serve life imprisonment sentence

KUWAIT: A Pakistani man who is wanted to serve up to 100 years in prison for several drug-related verdicts was recently arrested at the free trade zone and referred to relevant authorities.

‘Very hot’ weather
According to Kuwaiti Meteorological department, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours includes very hot daytime with light to moderate north westerly wind and relatively hot nighttime with light variable wind.

Mosque clinics
Medical Emergency Department Manager Dr Faisal Al- Ghanim said that the Ministry of Health paramedics responded to 391 cases over the previous six nights of late night prayers in clinics distributed to the Grand Mosque, Bilal Mosque in Siddiq and Jaber Al-Ali Mosque in Shohada. Ghanim explained that paramedics provided medical care to 242 persons at the Grand Mosque while 2 persons had to be taken to the hospital; 85 persons were attended to at Bilal mosque and 62 at Jaber Al-Ali Mosque. Most of the cases included hypertension, diabetes, exhaustion and dyspnoea (breathlessness). Meanwhile, Ghanim said that in preparation for the last ten days of Ramadan, the ministry had prepared two clinics for men and two for women in addition to one at the VIP reception at the Grand Mosque. “We have 12 clinics in total in all three mosques, 13 ambulances, 58 paramedics and paramedic scooters,” he said

Duo held on drugs smuggling charges

egyptian-drugsKUWAIT: A citizen and his Egyptian friend were recently arrested with possession of drugs they had imported and were trading in, said security sources. Narcotics detectives had been tipped off that the men had just imported a shipment of European hashish by air cargo.

After raiding an apartment in Sabah Al-Salem which the suspects rented, the detectives found 1.5 kilograms of hashish, tools used in preparing and packing the drug for sale, sums of money and a weapon. A case was filed and the suspects were referred to relevant authorities.

Four injured in cooking gas explosion A fire broke out in a Jahra building, said security sources. According to Jahra firemen, the fire was caused by the explosion of a cooking gas cylinder, which blew off an apartment ceiling and an entire wall on the second floor. Four expatriates were injured in the fire.
