Saudi-Arabia: ANHRI Demands More Pressures on the Saudi Regime to Review its Human Rights’ File

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), denounces banning a human rights activist from traveling for a vacation in Qatar, without any reasons, by the authorities.
The authorities banned “Saqek El-Ramdan”, the Secretary-General and one of the founders of Adalah Center for Human Rights, from traveling with his family for a vacation in Qatar. On Friday March 29, 2013, the activist arrived to “Salwa” crossing border with the state of Qatar, where the passports officer tolled him that he is banned from traveling and asked him to return back. El-Ramdan tried to know the reason of banning but he didn’t receive any clear reasons but only that he is included in the ban list on the computer.
It is worthy to note that El-Ramdan participated in the Second Gulf Forum of National Human Rights Defenders, which was organized by Gulf Center for Human Rights in Istanbul during the period from March 1-2, 2013.
This isn’t the first incident to be committed by banning some citizens from traveling, as within the week; the Shiite Scholar Shiekh “Gazi El-Shabib” from “Qatif” and the previous local council member “Abdurahim bou Khamis” from Ahsa’ were banned from traveling. In previous time, the human rights lawyer “Waleedn Abu-Khair” during January was banned from travel to Sweden to receive the Olof Palme Prize.
ANHRI said “banning the activists and citizens from leaving without clear reasons, is a clear violation to the rights of the citizens to movement and travel among the countries, as long as there is no legal justification for that. This right is ensured in all the international treaties and charters, as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Article no. 13, that everybody has the right to move and to choose the place of resident inside the borders of teh state, in addition to the rights to leave any state, including his/her own state, and to return back to it”.
ANHRI demands all the international and regional organizations, concerned with human rights, to press the regime to review the human rights filed and force it to make progress in this file, which witnesses several violations against the Saudi people. The regime committed several crimes against the citizens which could be classified as crimes against humanity.
